I adapted this essay from my book WOULD I LIE TO YOU? THE AMAZING POWER OF BEING HONEST IN A WORLD THAT LIES for TIME magazine's web site. Because the piece ran in December, it had a seasonal hook (Santa!) but it's actually not really about Santa. It's more about the lies we don't notice, the contradictions we get all tangled up in, and the opportunities we can find inside our conversations about honesty with kids and others we love.
