When I looked around at who was awesome in the craft space, but didn’t have any book, one company came to mind: Spoonflower. Spoonflower is a web-based company that lets you design and print your own fabric, wallpaper, and wrapping paper. I proposed a book collaboration to one of Spoonflower’s co-owners, Stephen Fraser, and he liked the idea. I worked closely with Spoonflower (visiting their North Carolina operations a few times) and, with my co-author Becka Rahn, pulled together a proposal. We got a terrific book deal from Stewart, Tabori, Chang (Abrams Books), and Becka and I wrote the entire book (Becka is a technical whiz, and I bring the inspiration).
